MG’S CECIL KIMBER COLLEGE TRAINING ACADEMY ACHIEVES IMI ACCREDITATION

Following significant investment in its Longbridge Training Venue, MG Motor UK has announced that the Cecil Kimber College has now been accredited by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI). This highly-coveted industry recognition signifies that MG has the capacity and high-standard infrastructure to deliver technical training to repairers across the MG dealer network.

MG has invested significantly in developing its courses, training equipment and infrastructure earlier this year. Including some development of the parts warehouse, the company has invested £0.5 million on adding new features such as workshop space for up to 10 vehicles, twin fully equipped classrooms to accommodate up to 20 delegates, two post hoists to allow for raised vehicle work and insulated flooring to accommodate electric and hybrid vehicle training.

All existing training courses have been reviewed and new courses developed to support a comprehensive training program. Every course has also been included as part of the IMI’s Quality Assured Programme, recognising the high-standard of these courses.

Speaking about the appointment, Harvey France, Head of Aftersales and Parts, said: “MG has experienced extraordinary success over the past twelve months with significant market growth, dealers coming onboard and new partnerships such as the IMI. Our success could not have been achieved without the dedication of our dealers who we will continue to support through our purpose-built training facility.

“We anticipate sales of the MG brand to increase as we refresh and expand the range. The Cecil Kimber College is part of our commitment to support growing demand via quality dealers in our network.”

It has already been a significant couple of years for MG, with the brand growing sales by 67% compared to the same period last year. Strong sales figures have been attributed to the company’s strong warranty offer, all new MGs are backed by a manufacturer’s warranty of at least five years, led by the all-new MG ZS Compact-SUV, which has a 7-year/80,000 miles warranty.
